Gwangju-Jeollanamdo bus drivers withdraw planned walkout
Unionized bus drivers in Gwangju and Jeollanamdo and local bus operators reached an agreement overnight and the scheduled walkout of the drivers on Wednesday was called off.
The Federation of Korean Trade Unions’ National Automobile Association Gwangju Regional Bus Group created an agreeable deal with the operators on Tuesday and plans to put the agreement up for vote on Wednesday and Thursday.
The agreement includes a 6.4% pay raise which is lower than the union’s original demand of 10.9%.
The unions in Jeollanamdo also found some middle ground with the bus companies.
Most of the Jeonnam unions and companies agreed to a salary freeze with work-hour reduction.
